How does Simparica Trio Chewable Tablets for Dogs work?
The three main ingredients in this medication for dogs are Moxidectin, Pyrantel, and Sarolaner. By blocking the GABA and glutamate-gated chloride channels, sarolaner targets acarine and insects. This activity causes the nervous system to overstimulate, culminating in death. Pyrantel pamoate is a tetrahydropyrimidine nematocide that targets neuromuscular-blocking drugs to produce paralysis and death. Moxidectin, a macrocyclic lactone class endectocide, is used to eliminate parasites. When this substance is put into the parasite's body, it inhibits chloride channel-mediated neurotransmission, resulting in the parasite's incapacity to generate electrical nerve cell activity. The parasite will be unable to hang onto the intestine without this action, and the body will naturally drain it out.

What special precautions are there?
Not effective against D. immitis adults. Only use as directed by your veterinarian. Prior to use, confirm infection with a heartworm test. Not proven safe for use in lactating, pregnant, or breeding animals. Not for human use. Keep away from children and animals. Administer cautiously to animals with a history of seizures.

Store at a temperature between 59 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit (30 degrees Celsius).
Overview
Dosing recommendations are 5 mg pyrantel, 24 moxidectin, and 1.2 mg saroloner per kg of body weight. If you realize a dose is late or has been missed, administer as soon as you remember and resume the usual monthly dosing routine. Ensure that your pet consumes the whole tablet. Using this medication every month will prevent infection and infestation when your pet is exposed to parasites. Administer an oral dose every 4 weeks.
